Spotlight on Louisville’s Black Pediatricians

Access to compassionate, culturally competent healthcare is essential to a thriving community. In Louisville, several incredible Black pediatricians and nurse practitioners are providing quality care, breaking barriers, and inspiring the next generation. These providers not only heal bodies—they nurture hearts, build trust, and represent the excellence that exists right here in our city.
Below, we’re highlighting some of the remarkable Black pediatric providers who serve families across Louisville.

Dr. Crystal D. Narcisse, M.D.

Dr. Crystal Narcisse is an internal medicine and pediatrics specialist who also serves as a Community Medical Director for the Institute for Health Equity, a part of Norton Healthcare. In this role, she leads outreach programs to address racial and health disparities in underserved communities.
A graduate of the Medical University of the Americas in Saint Kitts and Nevis, she completed her residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. Her holistic approach inspires patients to live balanced, healthy lives.
Outside of work, Dr. Narcisse enjoys cooking, traveling, and serving as Family Ministries Director at her church.

Dr. Andrea Nicholson provides compassionate care to patients from infancy through young adulthood. She earned her medical degree from Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed her pediatrics residency at the University of Louisville, and her fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Ohio.
Her approach combines evidence-based care with empathy, advocating for underserved families and empowering caregivers. Outside of work, she enjoys the arts, writing poetry, traveling, and music.

Dr. Dominique Elmore is a pediatric emergency medicine specialist who values strong communication with patients and families. A graduate of the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, she completed her pediatric residency at Marshall University and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at UofL.
When she’s not in the hospital, Dr. Elmore enjoys Pilates, concerts, and exploring Louisville’s vibrant food scene.
